Unico Idtech Acquires Biometric Security CredDefence

Unico IDtech, formerly Acesso Digital, acquires for an undisclosed amount 100% of CredDefense, Brazil’s leader in facial biometric security in the rental car business.

Unico IDtech is on acquisition mode following a successful $100M injection of capital by Softbank and General Atlantic in 2020 (stories in https://bit.ly/3jdcRNN and https://bit.ly/3il2TuV).

Unico IDtech has already acquired Vianuvem early this year, a startup owner of digital platform solutions for processing the sales of automobiles nationwide.

Guilherme Cervieri, vice-president of Strategy and M&A at Unico, told Moacir Drska, editor of NeoFeedBrasil, that the acquisition will allow the company the entry into a new market.

About 70% of all rentals in Brazil go through CredDefense’s technology solution, said Jose Luis Volpini, CEO of CredDefense The company has over 200 clients in the space including leaders Unidas, Localiza and Movida.

The market is watching what other companies and sectors are on the platter of Unico IDtech yet to unfold.
