Brazilian Giant Retail Americanas S.A. Announced it has Acquired Reading Digital Platform Skoob

Brazilian giant retail Americanas. announced it has acquired digital platform Skoob, Brazil’s largest digital platform of reading content and literary reviews with over 45 million reviews already published and more than 8 million users. The transaction, for an undisclosed amount, was implemented through americanas s.a.’ subsidiary IF Capital.

Launched in 2009, Skoob provides a digital literary experience through a platform that offers several functionalities, such as organization of current, completed and future readings, access to reviews and evaluation of literary works.

The platform and app allow interactivity with other social networks, as well as ecommerce, through an affiliate program.

At glance, the acquisition looks trifling and not sexy. But reviews play an important role in leveraging sales. It may increase the conversion of the book category by up to 40% according to americanas s.a. statement published by LABS. And, 40% increase in conversion rate certainly got #teeth and it will undoubtedly bite on the competition’s market share.
